Sealer
Posted by: | CommentsCaring for your stone countertops is not a complex process nor is there a lot of special information needed besides having the right products to use for cleaning, sealing, & polishing your stone.
For daily use & cleaning the best advice we can give is to wipe up spills & the like when they happen. A cloth with warm water is all that is really needed on a regular basis. Drying with a cloth immediately behind your wet cloth will be very effective in maintaining the polish as most dullness is just water streaks or dried residue of whatever type.
Revitalizer is a good product for regular use. On a yearly basis (this is not science–more porous more often) you should re-seal with the impregnator pro sealer or something similar. Intrepid Marble and Granite stocks the Revitalizer and the impregnator pro.
Do not use window cleaner or anything with amonia. These will eventually dull the surface & are not real easy to get off later.
Acidic types of products can etch stone. Lemons, tomatoes, oranges, wine, vinegar, etc. This is not much of a concern on sealed granite. The softer stones will etch quite readily with these kinds of liquids. Here we are talking about marble, limestone, travertine & other “softer” stones. Sealed or not, these stones will etch with these acids.
